Welcome To Pulaski Fresh, now
Southwest Virginia Fresh

An all volunteer, non-profit community service organization supporting local foods, bringing consumers and producers together to enhance and promote a viable local foods economy in Southwest Virginia.  The organization is comprised of Volunteers, a Board of Directors, and Supporters.

Whether you're interested in selling your locally produced food products, finding and purchasing those products, or simply learning more about family gardening, fresh healthy foods, or entrepreneurial options, Southwest Virginia Fresh (SO Fresh), formerly Pulaski Fresh, offers a wealth of resources for people located throughout our region.

Launched in 2010 as an initiative of the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, Pulaski Fresh Farm-to-Table was a “seedling” well on its way to a broad range of services surrounding locally produced foods.  Now, renamed Southwest Virginia Fresh (SO Fresh) and an independent community service organization, we invite you to check out our opportunities, programs, and dreams.  Join us in building and enjoying the benefits of a community-centered food heritage in Southwest Virginia, one where you can “put a face” on who sells or who buys your food, giving you choices while supporting your local economy.

Our Services & Benefits

Networking – The charter members of Pulaski Fresh/Southwest Virginia Fresh envision a vast and extensive network that helps match potential buyers with grower/producers who sell (or dream of selling) their locally produced vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy, eggs, and baked goods.  This website and various gatherings are some of the ways we do this.

Education & Resources – Pulaski Fresh/Southwest Virginia Fresh offers multiple seminars, workshops, and resources for producers and consumers to expand their expertise and ability to make informed choices.  Topics have included gardening techniques, entrepreneurial business basics on customer service, marketing, financing, and legal requirements, and preserving and cooking.

Promotion – We work to create opportunities for small producer businesses, including those who want to just dabble in sales, as well as farmers markets and restaurants to become known in their communities without a vast budget for marketing.

Collaborations - We are working to bring numerous local foods organizations together on a regular basis to learn from each other and explore potential for regional collaborations and cooperation.  SO Fresh, as a region-wide organization, is well suited by design to host and lead that effort.

Our Dreams

As this seedling continues to grow, Southwest Virginia Fresh members want it to be an initiator and “point of contact” for regional local foods efforts and information, collaborating with other similar groups, posting events & activities, even such possibilities as developing cannery/certified kitchens, community greenhouses, and educational centers.
